Position Overview

We are seeking a Culinary Specialist to join our esteemed establishment, Indian Hut. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for cooking and a strong background in Indian cuisine.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of secondary (high) school education.
Work Environment

The role is set within a vibrant restaurant atmosphere, emphasizing teamwork and culinary excellence.

Chef Responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
  • Guide and instruct kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of dishes.
  • Supervise cooks and other kitchen personnel to ensure high standards of food quality.
  • Regularly prepare and cook meals, including special dishes for events and guests.
  • Plan and design menus that meet quality standards and cater to diverse dietary needs.
  • Manage requisitioning of food and kitchen supplies efficiently.
  • Ensure safe food handling practices are followed in the kitchen.
  • Train kitchen staff in food preparation and handling techniques.
Qualifications
  • Safe Food Handling certificate is required.
Cuisine Expertise

Specialization in East Indian cuisine is essential for this role.

Physical and Personal Attributes
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically demanding role requiring stamina and attention to detail.
  • Must be organized and a strong team player.
Experience

A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
