Job Title: Middle East Policy Advocacy Director

Job Summary:

The Middle East Policy Advocacy Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive advocacy strategy for the Middle East region. This includes advancing peace and justice in the Middle East through policy advocacy, public education, and constituency mobilization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement a Middle East Advocacy Strategy that aligns with the American Friends Service Committee's (AFSC) mission and goals.
  2. Build relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, congressional staffers, and non-governmental organizations.
  3. Produce education and communication materials, such as policy briefs, reports, and social media content, to raise awareness about Middle East issues.
  4. Collect and analyze information from the Middle East region to inform policy decisions.
  5. Collaborate with the AFSC's Middle East Leadership Team, the Policy Office, and the Communications Department to advance the organization's goals.
  6. Participate in internal networks, including the U.S. Palestine Activism Network and the Global Policy Round Table.
  7. Monitor progress toward achieving goals and objectives, and evaluate the impact of advocacy efforts.

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience in social policy, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in policy analysis, research, and advocacy work, including significant prior work experience in the Middle East.
  • Understanding of U.S. political processes and ability to connect with government officials, congressional staffers, and key policymakers.
  • Demonstrated success in coalition-building, constituency outreach, public education, and working with academics, policy experts, and key non-governmental actors.
  • Ability to connect with diverse audiences, negotiate and influence situations using tact and diplomacy.
