Clinical Applications Analyst, Health Informatics
Reporting to the Manager of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Clinical Applications, the Clinical Applications Analyst will leverage their clinical expertise alongside advanced analytical capabilities to enhance the EMR system at Mackenzie Health. This role involves close collaboration with the Health Information Management department, privacy office, patient representatives, physician leadership, nursing, allied health leadership, and various clinical teams to deliver user support, resolve system issues, and improve EMR functionalities while adhering to established system standards. Key responsibilities include participating in on-call rotations, conducting integrated system testing, managing software upgrades and optimizations, providing training, and developing and maintaining training environments and curricula. Additionally, the analyst will document policies and procedures and serve as a communication bridge between end users, the EMR system, and third-party vendors to ensure effective information exchange.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in a clinically relevant field, health informatics, computer science, or a related discipline.
- Epic certification in Epic Health Information Management is preferred; certification must be obtained within three months of employment.
- Proficient in MS Office, Windows, and Visio.
- Demonstrated experience with Epic EMR is essential.
Additional Skills and Experience
- Two to five years of experience in hospital clinical settings and/or hospital information systems and EMR.
- Familiarity with clinical workflows in a hospital environment.
- Experience in implementing Epic version upgrades through Nova Note review, build, and testing.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and project leadership.
- A proven track record in supporting large-scale healthcare information systems and technologies, utilizing project management skills to ensure timely deliverables.
- Understanding of organizational culture and clinical application experience to support care delivery across the hospital.
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Consistent attendance record; highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Commitment to patient and staff safety policies, fostering a safe and inclusive environment.
- Ability to fulfill the essential duties of the position.

Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL certification is an asset.
- Clinical professional designations are preferred.
