We are seeking a highly skilled RPG programmer to join our team at IT Unlock Company. As an RPG programmer, you will play a key role in the modernization of existing applications using IBM i (AS/400) technology.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will participate in large-scale RPG modernization projects, implementing and adapting current applications for integration and/or new features. You will work closely with our team to ensure timely project delivery and high-quality results.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent our client in a positive manner in all aspects of the position, including courtesy and respect for others on the team and conveying an ethical approach to business situations.
  • Ability to take business processing issues and automate them through technology.
  • Understand functionality through conducting user interviews and identify and write specifications to change or enhance program or system.
  • Ability to determine potential business impacts of proposed changes and enhancements to other aspects of the business.
  • Estimate programming effort involved based on program specifications; adjust same as conditions change.
  • Development of test plan, create and coordinate user testing and ensure that tests meet user requirements.
  • Establish documentation requirements and promote strict adherence.
  • Identify, analyze, and confirm problems and their causes and then provide solutions.
  • Write complex batch and inquiry/maintenance programs using RPGIV, RPGLE, DDS, and CL Programming.
  • Effectively produce and communicate status reports (in verbal and written form) to project manager; ability to tailor technical communications to audience and successfully document module, application, system-level, and/or business-level objectives.
  • Perform job responsibilities exhibiting ownership of duties and independence.
  • Developing skills in identifying opportunities, soliciting business, and in writing small proposals.
Requirements:
  • Sound knowledge of platform utilities.
  • Knowledge of the JD Edwards operating system and familiarization with basic data communication terminology and communication functions, including client access.
  • Strong RPG programming coding techniques and database techniques.
Knowledge, Competencies/Skills:
  • Great oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow client standards.
  • Strong sense of ethics.
  • Organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Team player who conveys a positive and receptive attitude.
