Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Long-Distance Freight Driver to join our team at HAKEEM TRUCKING LTD. This position involves transporting goods across various locations while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.

Work Environment

The role involves operating in various settings, requiring flexibility and adaptability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Load and unload freight efficiently.
  • Drive and operate straight or articulated trucks for transporting goods.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of the vehicle, including tires, lights, and brakes.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Communicate effectively with central dispatch regarding transport status.
  • Maintain accurate records of cargo, service hours, distance traveled, and fuel usage.
  • Ensure the safety and security of cargo through proper tarping and handling.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess an Air Brakes Endorsement.
  • Valid Driver's License (Class 1 or A) is required.
Documentation Skills

Familiarity with various documentation is essential, including:

  • Accident or incident reports
  • Bill of lading
  • Driver logbook
  • Inspection reports
Equipment and Trucking Types

Experience with the following types of trucking and equipment is beneficial:

  • Dry bulk
  • Flatbed
  • Refrigerated
  • Tractor-trailer
Communication Skills

Ability to operate GPS and other navigation systems is required.

Travel Requirements

Willingness to travel is necessary, including:

  • Cross-border travel
  • Extended periods away from home
  • Overnight trips
Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • Ability to handle heavy loads (more than 45 kg or 100 lbs)
  • Capability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Physical endurance for long hours of sitting
