Job Summary:


Under the direction of the Shift Shop Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, modifying, troubleshooting and replacing any piping or mechanical building service, furnishing, or portable equipment or components within the Health Sciences Centre. This includes performing preventive maintenance, inspection, repair or replacement on assigned plumbing/heating and mechanical equipment and systems.


Key Responsibilities:



  1. Install, repair, modify, and maintain plumbing, heating, and medical gas systems
  2. Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on assigned equipment and systems
  3. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues as needed
  4. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with current applicable plumbing codes and HSC technical standards
  5. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and user departments to maintain the integrity of Health Sciences Centre systems

Requirements:



  • Minimum five years' experience in installation, maintenance, modification, inspection, and replacement of building mechanical and plumbing services and equipment
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required
  • Province of Manitoba or Interprovincial qualification as a Journeyman Plumber or Journeyman Fitter/Steamfitter required
  • City of Winnipeg Cross Connection and Control Tester's License required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills

The position often requires working from ladders, scaffolding, high-level platforms, or in confined spaces, enclosures, and crawlspaces. Must be able to adjust to the demands of a shift work schedule.
