The Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist II to join our team in the Breast Imaging department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for operating radiological and accessory equipment for screening and routine mammography examinations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing quality screening and diagnostic mammography with minimal supervision
  • Displaying independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative
  • Assessing requisitions for appropriate examinations, views, and equipment required
  • Obtaining pertinent history and selecting techniques and positioning patients to attain quality images
  • Operating X-Ray equipment and adhering to ALARA radiation safety practices
  • Performing clerical duties related to the care of the patient

As a Radiologic Technologist II, you will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, communicating effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, and adhering to our organization's policies and procedures.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours biweekly, between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Your Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A graduate degree in Radiologic Technology from an approved school
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals
  • Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support program within the last 12 months
  • Mammography positioning skills experience, preferably in screening or diagnostics
  • Experience in breast ultrasound and interventional procedures an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • A high degree of mental and visual acuity, as well as reasonable manual dexterity
  • Ability to obtain continuing education as part of CAR Mammography Accreditation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset
