Senior Claims Specialist, Complex Cases

As a key member of the Large Complex & Specialty Claims team, the Senior Claims Specialist will oversee a diverse portfolio of intricate claims, particularly focusing on substantial Commercial General Liability (CGL) claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure effective claim management, including underwriting, reinsurance, actuarial teams, and senior management.
- Participate in quality assurance evaluations of our claims personnel, external vendors, and brokers.
- Act as a representative for Definity Financial Corporation in legal proceedings, mediation sessions, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
- Support the training and technical development of team members.
- Maintain a professional, approachable, and courteous demeanor in all interactions with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure under pressure.
- Continuously seek to enhance your claims adjusting expertise and personal development.
- Exhibit teamwork and adaptability in a dynamic work setting.
- Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Possess the capability to work autonomously.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in any field or a two-year diploma from a recognized community college, or a completed CIP designation.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is advantageous.
- A minimum of several years of experience in general claims handling.
- At least four years of experience managing large CGL and/or bodily injury claims, with a background in mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Experience in coaching and developing junior staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and possess strong computer skills.
Compensation: Salary range: $66,300 - $122,100
