Senior Claims Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Specialist to join our team at Definity. As a key member of our claims team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of large complex claims, including large CGL claims.
Key Responsibilities- Coach and mentor junior staff to develop their skills and expertise
- Engage with stakeholders to effectively manage claims, including underwriting, reinsurance, actuary, and senior leadership
- Assist in quality assurance audits of claims staff, vendors, and brokers
- Represent Definity in litigation, mediation, and alternate dispute processes
- Provide technical support and training to team members
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, coworkers, and vendors
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve adjusting skills and knowledge
- Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals and objectives
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- University degree in any discipline or a 2-year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college or fully completed CIP designation
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
- A minimum of 8-10 years general claims handling experience
- A minimum of 4 years claims experience handling large CGL and/or bodily injury claims
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills
- Hybrid work schedule for most roles
