Senior Claims Specialist

At Definity, we're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist to join our team in managing large complex claims. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of large complex claims, including large CGL claims.
Key Responsibilities:- Coach and mentor junior staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to handle complex claims.
- Engage with all stakeholders, including underwriting, reinsurance, actuary, and senior leadership, to effectively manage claims.
- Assist in quality assurance audits to ensure our Claims staff, vendors, and brokers meet our high standards.
- Represent Definity in litigation, mediation, and alternate dispute processes.
- Provide technical support and training to team members to ensure they have the necessary skills to handle complex claims.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, coworkers, and vendors through professional, friendly, and courteous interactions.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure and striving to continually improve your adjusting experience and personal learnings.
- Collaborate with the team to achieve our goals and objectives.
- Communicate effectively through strong written and verbal skills.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- University degree in any discipline or a 2-year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college or fully completed CIP designation.
- Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset.
- A minimum of 8-10 years general claims handling experience.
- A minimum of 4 years claims experience handling large CGL and/or bodily injury claims.
- Experience with mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills.

Actual salary for the role may vary depending on work location of the successful candidate and other factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, working conditions and the local labour market. In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in various incentive plans which are paid out at the discretion of the company and subject to individual and company performance.
