Director, Capital Markets Data Governance

OMERS is seeking a seasoned data governance professional with investments domain experience to join our Capital Markets Finance team.

As the Director, you will be responsible for managing and leading the implementation of the Capital Markets' Data Governance Program within a critical data transformation program. Reporting to the VP, Finance Data, Capital Markets Finance, this role will collaborate closely with various stakeholders across OMERS, including the Capital Markets Data Governance Committee (DGC), Investment teams, Product teams, and the Enterprise Data Governance team.

Your Impact:

  • Lead the rollout of a comprehensive data governance framework for Capital Markets, focusing on enhancing investment and holdings data throughout the trade lifecycle.
  • Establish foundational data governance principles for the 'Daybreak' program by collaborating with platform teams to define business requirements that support data needs.
  • Implement organizational policies and standards within Capital Markets. Design and implement data governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture to effectively manage data assets.
  • Define clear data domains to capture and manage Capital Markets data. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure these domains accurately reflect their business requirements.
  • Develop consistent business processes for managing mastered and golden data sets within capital markets and finance.
  • Work closely with data platform teams to ensure that data requirements are met, supporting data quality and Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Data Governance Committee members to define roles of data owners, stewards, and custodians. Work with the business to explain these roles, identify, and document all data assets within the program's scope.
  • Contribute to assessing and maturing the overall data governance strategy for OMERS.
