About the Role
As a Community Support Specialist within our Culinary Program, you'll play a vital role in empowering individuals to achieve their employment goals. Reporting to the Culinary Program Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, providing support, advocacy, and facilitating social and recreational activities.
Your Responsibilities
- Implement psychosocial rehabilitation practices to ensure the safety and well-being of participants.
- Develop and facilitate engaging programs tailored to individuals with diverse needs, including mental health, physical health, substance use, and homelessness challenges.
- Guide participants in creating personalized goal plans and support their journey towards employment success.
- Act as a liaison between participants and community resources, connecting them with essential services and supports.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to create a positive and supportive environment for program participants.
Your Qualifications
- Diploma in Community Social Service or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Previous experience working within the hospitality and culinary industry is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and facilitating PSR-based programs for diverse populations.
- Recent, related work experience of two years or more.
- Ability to obtain First Aid + CPR, WHMIS certifications, and a Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance upon hire.
Your Skills and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of mental health, employment, housing, and community resources.
- Proven crisis de-escalation skills within a team setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
- Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and psychosocial rehabilitation practices.
