1What Is the Role?
The Bond & Specialty Insurance (B&SI) division is looking for a Senior Underwriter to enhance our Construction Surety team. This position presents a chance to become part of a dedicated and collaborative group of underwriters in a role that is both visible and challenging. As a Senior Underwriter, you will demonstrate decisiveness, attention to detail, and the ability to cultivate relationships both internally and externally to achieve results. Your expertise in risk assessment and product promotion will play a crucial role in the profitability and success of our organization.Key Responsibilities
Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of a designated portfolio by leveraging a thorough understanding of our risk appetite to make informed decisions within your underwriting authority. Assist senior leadership with credit evaluations and underwriting suggestions. Build and sustain relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization to formulate sales strategies and uncover cross-selling opportunities. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with external brokers through regular engagement to market and advocate for our offerings. Identify new business prospects utilizing consultative marketing and sales techniques. Collaborate with management to implement regional sales strategies. Monitor your assigned portfolio to detect any declining credit conditions and ensure compliance with established terms. Perform additional duties as required. Represent the company at various industry-related events.Ideal Candidate Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is preferred. Three to five years of experience in surety underwriting or finance/accounting is preferred. Ability to apply critical thinking skills to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze information to make timely recommendations aligned with our risk appetite. Strong financial insight, including the capability to analyze financial statements and operational histories of clients. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with broker partners. Customer-focused approach to deliver exceptional service. Efficiently manage a variety of complex and time-sensitive tasks.Required Qualifications
Minimum of three years of experience in surety, finance, or accounting, or relevant insurance underwriting experience is required. Valid driver's license. Willingness to travel as necessary.Benefits Offered
