Job Title: Senior Underwriter, Contract Surety

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter, Contract Surety to join our team at Travelers. As a key member of our Bond & Specialty Insurance group, you will be responsible for the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Support senior leadership group with credit analysis and underwriting recommendations.
  • Identify new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Collaborate with management to execute on regional sales plans.
  • Monitor assigned portfolio to identify deteriorating credit conditions and compliance with the terms and conditions of the facility.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a finance or accounting related discipline preferred.
  • Three to five years of surety underwriting or finance/accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills while proactively identifying underwriting, marketing or financial challenges.
  • Strong financial acumen, including the ability to analyze financial statements and client's operational history.
  • Communication skills with the ability to successfully collaborate with our broker partners.
