Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Company in the position of Assistance Vice President, Head of Surety - Canada. As a key member of the Financial Lines team, reporting to the Head of Financial Lines, you will be accountable for all facets of renewal and new business production for Everest's growing insurance group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and expand Canadian presence by actively meeting with and soliciting brokers/agents
  • Underwrite mid and upper-mid market contract and Fortune 1,000 commercial surety accounts (US and foreign-based indemnitors)
  • Solid foundation in financial statement analysis –Annual Reports, AIF's, Analyst Reports and Prospectuses
  • Work with Surety leadership and Credit functions to produce surety business that meets Everest's underwriting and credit criteria
  • Appoint and manage agents and brokers; set goals and objectives for each agent and broker
  • Implement pricing and selection standards that support strategic objectives and achieve desired financial goals set by management
  • Provide highest level of product quality and customer service
  • Work within a matrix organization structure to grow the Surety product line while fostering EvCan's overarching marketing, distribution, and growth strategies
Qualifications, Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred, or a College Diploma with applicable work experience
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Surety or equivalent banking/investment experience
  • Experience in both Commercial and Contract Surety Underwriting considered an asset
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
  • Exceptional oral and written communication with the ability to concisely provide executive summaries to senior management
  • Strong problem-solving analytical skills, with an ability to drive data analytics and make appropriate conclusions on results
  • Team oriented and ability to work effectively with peers
  • Demonstrated bias for action with a high sense of urgency, strong work ethic and drive for results
