The compensation for this role ranges from CAD $41.42/Hr. to CAD $55.91/Hr.Position Overview
This role adheres to the standards set forth by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) regarding professional practice and ethical conduct for registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses. The focus is on delivering care that is centered around residents and their families, in alignment with the organization's vision and values. The nurse will utilize sound judgment and critical thinking to provide care primarily to older adults in a Long Term Care environment, working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. The role requires demonstrating expertise and leadership in nursing practice, coordinating clinical interventions, and evaluating resident outcomes based on individualized care goals. The nurse will serve as a resource for the interdisciplinary team, facilitating information sharing and ongoing resident care coordination.Key Responsibilities

- Maintain and improve clinical competence.
- Participate in designated committees and approved research initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Completion of an accredited gerontology course or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is essential.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven nursing practice skills related to residents with chronic conditions.
- In-depth knowledge of common medical conditions, aging processes, polypharmacy, treatment protocols, and nursing interventions pertinent to adult care in Long Term Care settings.
- Competence in conducting nursing assessments and implementing interventions tailored to specific diagnoses and care situations.
- Ability to recognize necessary physical adaptations for frail elderly and/or physically impaired residents.
- Expertise in End of Life care and Palliative approaches, including facilitating discussions on care goals with families and residents.
- Proficiency in Chronic Disease Management, anticipating and addressing potential complications relevant to the resident population.
- Skillful in the use of medical equipment such as lifts, oxygen systems, and suction machines.
- Experience in developing and executing care plans aligned with resident and family priorities, including education and counseling.
- Competence in managing acute and chronic pain, particularly for residents with cognitive impairments.
- Knowledgeable in safe care practices for residents requiring specialized treatments.
- Ability to perform nursing duties autonomously, adhering to established standards of care.
Closing Remarks
Work hours, including days off and work areas, may be adjusted based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
