Your Opportunity:

This pivotal position of the Medical Equipment Specialist is essential for ensuring value for Alberta Health Services through the proficient execution of preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory apparatus. By demonstrating exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills, this role significantly contributes to the timely and cost-effective upkeep of laboratory equipment.

Description:

As a Medical Equipment Specialist (MES) II, you will be responsible for conducting assurance testing, maintenance, and repair of intricate medical, biomedical, and electronic devices or systems.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a two-year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Perform preventative maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment, including, but not limited to, centrifuges, freezers, incubators, microscopes, mixers/rotators, pulmonary function machines, stainers, scales, BSC/Fume-hoods, and water baths. Ensure compliance with codes, laws, and regulations related to medical and laboratory equipment. Monitor and maintain compressed gas piping systems. Conduct annual safety inspections on electrical equipment and instruments. Schedule yearly maintenance and repairs of fume hoods and biological safety cabinets. Maintain positive communication with client departments regarding repair needs. Provide updates to client departments concerning the status, cost, frequency, and turnaround time of repairs. Uphold discretion and confidentiality in all situations. Foster effective working relationships with colleagues, technical departments, and Patient Care Centers. Monitor and document daily and weekly measurements and maintenance for deionized water and compressed gas systems. Ensure calibration of measuring devices utilized within the department. Exhibit strong initiative, troubleshooting, prioritization, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. Flexibility to accommodate operational requirements, including work hours.
