Position Overview
We are seeking a Release Coordinator/Analyst to join our expanding Release Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
Release Planning:
- Engage in release planning discussions with Scrum Masters and Project Managers to determine the optimal sequence of release packages.
- Contribute to and document recommendations for releases and/or changes to production, including scope, schedule, deliverables, and rollback plans. Collaborate with the Release Management team to review these recommendations.
- Maintain the release management schedule for assigned systems.
- Oversee the documentation of release notes prepared by the team, ensuring they are communicated to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Update the Release Implementation Plan with relevant information regarding the release, including available resources for production deployment.
- Participate in a rotation cycle for Release Management, overseeing weekend production deployments.
- Ensure timely communication with all stakeholders across business and IT teams.
Release Management:
- Ensure compliance with IT Security and project requirements as outlined by Release Management. Collaborate with IT Security to provide updates on Jira cards created by the Release Management team.
- Communicate scheduled deployment outage windows to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and schedule critical changes to production activities, tracking all elements as projects progress through testing to production.
- Support release execution by monitoring each phase of the release process, validating progress through various gates and test phases, and assisting testers in identifying defects.
- Facilitate release coordination and communication during and after deployment as projects transition through testing to production.
- Verify stakeholder acceptance and signoff on deliverables.
Additional Responsibilities:
Release Standards and Processes:
- Identify opportunities for tactical improvements in the release management process in collaboration with other team members.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all processes, including resources for stakeholders and team members.
- Update release management standards as established by the team and educate internal members on release methodologies and strategies as needed.
- Gather feedback from users of release management standards and recommend modifications or retirements based on this feedback.
Coordination for Departmental Initiatives:
- Assist management in overseeing initiatives that involve multiple teams within the department.
- Help develop plans and schedules.
- Track progress across teams and squads.
- Identify issues, risks, and action items related to initiatives.
- Document progress and status reports using tools like Confluence and Jira.
Required Skills:
- 5-10 years of professional experience, with 3-5 years in a related role.
- Experience in agile product development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong facilitation and coordination abilities.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build relationships across various teams.
- Effective time and priority management skills.
- Capability to manage stakeholder expectations.
- Analytical and innovative problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence is highly advantageous.
- Experience in a service-oriented environment is beneficial.
- Preference for experience in the insurance industry and implementation of web-based policy administration systems with legacy application integrations.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
- No Canadian work experience is required; however, eligibility to work in Canada is necessary.
