About the RoleThe Director, Business Support will be responsible for leading financial planning and decision support for Northern Health Authority. As a member of the Finance Leadership team and various Senior Leadership teams across VP portfolios, the Director will provide leadership within and around financial planning to facilitate achievement of the mission, vision, and strategic priorities of Northern Health Authority in accordance with the organization's values.
Key Responsibilities- Provide input and make recommendations to the Executive team, senior leadership, physician leaders, and the Executive Director, Financial Planning & Budgeting on financial and operational issues as they relate to both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of Northern Health Authority.
- Lead financial planning and decision support for Northern Health Authority, including developing and implementing financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize business needs and develop strategies to address them.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including senior leadership, physicians, and community partners.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in financial planning and decision support.
As a Director, Business Support at Northern Health Authority, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about delivering exceptional health services to our community. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health/dental and a municipal pension plan for part-time and full-time employees. Casuals have the option of paying for benefits. We also offer four weeks of vacation with one year of continuous service, financial support for moving expenses, an employee referral program, employer-paid training and leadership development opportunities, and spectacular outdoor activities and the shortest commutes in BC.
QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have a professional accounting designation (CPA) or a Master's Degree in a relevant discipline (MHA, Leadership, MBA). You will also need to have seven or more years of relevant managerial accounting experience within a large complex multi-site organization, preferably in a healthcare environment, and in positions with increasing leadership responsibility. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills and AbilitiesWe are looking for a candidate with in-depth knowledge of Canadian generally accepted accounting principles and practices, public sector accounting standards, financial policies, legislation and government directives, financial and management systems and process, internal controls, and management accounting concepts relevant to major public sector organizations. You will also need to have demonstrated leadership and managerial ability and advanced knowledge of leadership principles to enable NHA to move forward and engage people in the organization's vision, mission, and values. Additionally, you will need to have demonstrated ability to apply knowledge into practice and to understand and communicate the implications of operational decisions and activities. Proven ability to define/amalgamate diverse organizational requirements, financial parameters, resolve issues, identify, and mitigate risks and develop long-term plans.
