About You: You are a courteous and effective collaborator, committed to delivering quality and safe programming for the community. Your reliability and responsiveness to customer needs, along with your ability to build strong relationships, are essential. You will be comfortable working with diverse groups, including children, adults, fellow instructors, volunteers, and facility staff.
Key Responsibilities: As a casual Culinary Program Facilitator, you will:
- Develop lesson plans and deliver engaging culinary learning experiences for adults, school-aged children, and preschoolers.
- Oversee both cooking and baking components of the programs.
- Manage food preparation and dishwashing tasks.
- Set up and clean up cooking classes efficiently.
- Create skills-based lesson plans that adhere to Food Safe guidelines and best practices for food handling.
- Ensure a premium culinary experience for each participant.
- Guide groups through basic recipes.
- Occasionally handle grocery shopping for class needs.
Required Skills:
- Proficient in food preparation, including knife skills and safe food handling practices.
- Prior kitchen experience is preferred.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Adaptable and solutions-oriented.
- Engaging, creative, and hands-on approach to instruction.
Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 16 years old, possess a culinary aptitude, and have prior experience in planning and leading programs for preschoolers, school-aged children, youth, or adults. Successful candidates must hold a current Food Safe Level 1 certification, along with Emergency or Standard First Aid and CPR Level C. High Five certification is required within three months of employment. All candidates must be prepared to work at various NVRC locations and are required to submit a Police Information Check prior to appointment. The pay rate for this casual position ranges from $21 to $23 per hour, with programs running Monday through Friday at various times throughout the week. Shifts typically range from 3.5 to 7 hours.
