Dean, Faculty of Science

The University of British Columbia is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the Faculty of Science. As a renowned academic administrator, you will be responsible for advancing the Faculty's research, teaching, and scholarship excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Faculty, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in research, teaching, and service.
  • Develop and implement a bold vision for the Faculty, aligning with the University's strategic goals and priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty members, staff, students, and external partners to promote collaboration and advancement of the Faculty's mission.
  • Oversee the management of human, financial, and physical resources, ensuring effective allocation and utilization of resources to support the Faculty's goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to secure external funding and support for the Faculty's research and initiatives.
  • Advocate for the Faculty's interests and priorities within the University and with external stakeholders, promoting the Faculty's reputation and visibility.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant field, with a strong record of scholarship and academic achievement.
  • Proven experience in academic administration, with a track record of successful leadership and management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What We Offer:

  • A competitive salary range of $320,000 to $380,000.
