About the Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is a world-renowned institution, boasting over 9,000 undergraduate and 1,600 graduate students across a diverse range of disciplines. With 40 Canada Research Chairs, two Canada Excellence Research Chairs, and over $131 million in annual research funding, the Faculty is a hub of academic excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Faculty of Science, driving academic excellence and research innovation.
- Develop and implement effective plans to enhance student recruitment, retention, and success.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative research and community engagement.
- Lead the Faculty's research agenda, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and excellence in research output.
- Develop and manage the Faculty's budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and financial sustainability.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a relevant field and a record of scholarship consistent with appointment at the rank of Full Professor.
- Proven track record of academic leadership, including experience in managing human, financial, and physical infrastructure resources.
- Strong vision for advancing excellence in research, teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and Indigeneity, with a demonstrated ability to create inclusive and equitable environments.
What We Offer
The University of British Columbia offers a competitive salary range of $320,000 to $380,000, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for professional development.
