Job Summary:

We are looking for a motivated and safety-conscious individual to perform all aspects of tire and related service and repair for mining tires, adhering to Kal Tire's work and safety standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the standard for service excellence within the industry and demonstrating the Kal Tire AIMS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Service Excellence: Provide exceptional service to customers, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Tire Shop Work: Learn and perform all aspects of tire shop work related to the customer sites, including tire inspection, maintenance, and repair.
  • Assist Mine Maintenance Staff: Assist mine maintenance staff as required, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance of tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Tire Inspection and Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement tire inspection and maintenance programs on site, ensuring compliance with Kal Tire's standards.
  • Best Practices: Demonstrate and promote best practices to the customer, ensuring a high level of service excellence.
Operational/Technical:
  • Dismount and Mount Tires: Dismount and mount tires for a variety of vehicles for the mining tire industry, ensuring safe and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Tire Safety: Ensure that all tires are mounted safely and according to load requirements, adhering to Kal Tire's safety standards.
  • Equipment Checks and Calibrations: Perform regular equipment checks and calibrations, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Wheel Fitting and Removal: Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle, ensuring safe and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Tire Assembly and Balancing: Mount and strip any type of tire and assemble rims, ensuring proper balancing and alignment.
  • Tire Repairs: Perform repairs to tires and tubes, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Inspections and Reporting: Conduct regular inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components to remain in service, ensuring compliance with Kal Tire's standards.
  • Heavy-Duty Tire Servicing Equipment: Operate heavy-duty tire servicing equipment and tools, ensuring safe and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Maintenance Checks: Conduct regular maintenance checks, ensuring all work is done according to Kal Tire's work and safety standards.
  • Reporting and Logging: Complete required reporting and logging of data, as required, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
Health, Safety & Environment:
  • Safety Regulations: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and requirements, adhering to Kal Tire's safety standards.
  • Hygiene Standards: Maintain hygiene standards in the facility, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Hazard Reporting: Report hazards, unsafe work conditions, and equipment to your Supervisor/lead hand, ensuring prompt action to eliminate or reduce the risk to acceptable levels.
  • Incident Reporting: Report all incidents and injuries according to procedures, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Safety Representative: Assist and cooperate with the site safety representative to resolve safety issues identified, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Always use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Vehicle Pre-Start Checks: Perform vehicle pre-start checks according to procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Safety Meetings and Inspections: Actively participate in regular meetings and inspections, ensuring a safe working environment and documenting accordingly.
  • Emergency Evacuation Procedures: Comply with site emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring a safe working environment.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Safety Standards: All safety standards are followed, and work is performed without incident to team, equipment, or tires.
  • Tire Service Tools and Equipment: Correct and safe use of tire service tools and equipment are performed.
  • LMS and Velocity: LMS and Velocity are used monthly as per guidelines.
  • Tire Repair Efficiency: Tires are repaired efficiently to meet the needs of the customer.
  • Team Contribution: Team member contributes to the smooth operations of the Kal Tire Shop.
Work Experience:
  • Related Experience: At least two years of related experience with direct experience as a tire technician preferred.
  • OTR Service Training and Certifications: OTR service training and certifications desired.
  • Tire Manipulators, Forklifts, and Service Trucks: Experience operating and maintaining tire manipulators, forklifts, and service trucks.
  • Safety Procedures: Experience working in an environment where safety procedures are a key part of daily operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Physical Abilities: Able to physically perform the duties of an OTR Tire Technician safely.
  • Licenses and Certificates: Able to obtain and maintain all applicable licenses, certificates as required to perform the duties as required to work at mine sites.
  • Mechanically Related Tasks: Able to perform mechanically related tasks.
  • Safety Procedures: Able to follow all safety procedures and work in a safe manner.
  • Results-Oriented Environment: Able to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a team.
  • Problem-Solving: Must be a self-starter and willing to take the initiative, solve problems, be able and willing to work without direct supervision, and be willing to attend appropriate training sessions.
  • Tire Failure Causes and Analysis: Understand tire failure causes and analysis.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and ability to express themselves well both verbally and in writing.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Skills: Good literacy and numeracy skills.
Special Requirements:
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license and ability to comply with relevant insurance policies.
Education:
  • Secondary School Diploma: Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Additional Certification and Training: Additional certification and training preferred.
