About the Role

RDJ Bakeries Ltd., a renowned food manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to join our Human Resources team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Health and Safety Programs

Assist in creating, implementing, and maintaining health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

  • Conduct Risk Assessments and Inspections

Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce risks.

  • Coordinate Safety Training and Education

Coordinate and deliver safety training sessions for employees and management, and develop training materials and maintain training records.

  • Investigate Incidents and Near-Misses

Assist in investigating workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.

  • Monitor and Analyze Safety Data

Track and analyze safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and participate in safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards, and experience with safety programs such as Lockout Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, and emergency response.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to conduct training and presentations effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Working Conditions
  • Work indoors in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel to different company locations may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting involved, with occasional repetition of movements.
  • Typing involved.
