Job Summary:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Food Service I to join our Nutrition Food Service (NFS) team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality meal service to patients, residents, staff, visitors, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures.
  • Package and portion food items, prepare food according to set guidelines and menus, and serve meals to patients and customers.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the NFS team to ensure a quality patient, resident, and customer experience.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Physically capable to lift food, supplies, and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs.
  • Ability to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience.
  • Food service experience in a hospital or long-term care environment.
  • Experience with inventory management, receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates, and minimizing waste while utilizing "First in- First Out" procedures.
  • Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment.
  • Food Safe Certificate or equivalent.
  • WHMIS training.
