Position Overview

The Manitoba Government is seeking experienced professionals for the role of Senior Shoreline Management Engineer. This position plays a crucial role in providing geotechnical expertise and guidance related to shoreline and riverbank projects across the province.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver geotechnical support and strategic advice for riverbank and shoreline initiatives.
  • Chair and oversee the Shoreline Erosion Technical Committee (SETC) to ensure effective service delivery throughout the province.
  • Design and integrate multi-disciplinary technical inputs for projects focused on erosion mitigation and stabilization.
  • Review and assess applications for shoreline and riverbank developments, ensuring compliance with provincial standards and policies.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
  • Willingness to travel within Manitoba as necessary.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments with varying terrain and weather conditions.

Qualifications:
Essential:
  • Significant experience in geotechnical modeling, erosion protection design, and riverbank stability.
  • Proficient in conducting technical reviews with a solid understanding of geotechnical engineering principles.
  • Experience with geographic information systems (GIS), particularly ArcView GIS.
  • Knowledge of shoreline erosion mechanisms and stabilization techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Capability to conduct independent research and propose innovative solutions.
  • Familiarity with Workplace Safety and Health practices.

Desired:
  • Master's Degree in Civil Engineering is considered an asset.
