Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Estimating team in Ottawa, ON. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality estimates, managing project budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities- Perform quantity takeoffs and enter data into estimating software
- Assemble estimates, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Understand labor variances between project types and apply correction factors
- Provide detailed labor breakdowns for budget creation and project management
- Prepare budgets for prospective projects
- Attend site visits, pre-bid meetings, and post-bid meetings as required
- Participate in estimating turnover meetings with project teams
- Review project win strategies and develop historical information
- Collaborate with teams to decide on project pursuit and execution
- 10+ years of mechanical estimating experience with strong exposure to cost estimates and proposals
- Proven project and resource management skills with leadership experience
- Ability to interpret site and building plans and specifications
- Experience with project management software
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical or construction technology engineering (desirable)
