Sessional Instructor: History of New Media Art

OCAD University is seeking a qualified instructor to teach a course on the history of new media art in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Course Description:This survey course explores the relationship between art and media from the early days of photography and avant-garde cinema to contemporary digital and video art practices. Students will examine technological developments that have impacted perception and representation, including time-motion studies, industrialization, mass culture, and global electronic networks. The course will also investigate the influence of new media on various avant-garde movements and stylistic innovations such as collage and montage.
Responsibilities:- Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, critiques, and evaluations
- Prepare and teach studio classes, including health and safety protocols
- Meet academic and curricular requirements and deadlines
- Terminal degree in art, design, or relevant discipline
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership and experience promoting a respectful and inclusive work and learning environment
Sessional appointments are fixed-term annual contracts. Compensation includes a per-course pay scale with salary level of $6,000 per 0.5 credit course, plus 7% in lieu of benefits and vacation pay.
