As our Transmission Line Engineer, you will undertake professional engineering assignments to support the efficient operation and maintenance of our transmission systems and associated capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct professional engineering assignments to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of transmission systems and related projects.
- Apply engineering principles, standards, and practices to create designs that balance safety, health, environmental considerations, cost, construction, operation, maintenance, and performance criteria.
- Collaborate as a team member during various phases of engineering assignments, ensuring adherence to standards, best practices, and quality assurance.
- Prepare necessary documentation for assigned projects and support enhancements and process redesign initiatives, including concept and business case development.
- Perform detailed data analysis for planning; evaluate findings and prepare technical reports.
- Review components of moderately complex plans, designs, applications, and permits.
- Work alongside other engineers, design technicians, project managers, and construction managers to assess projects, define requirements, and coordinate work assignments.
- Maintain current knowledge in your field of expertise and engage in professional development activities to gain experience in more complex scenarios.
In Year 1, You Will:
- Become familiar with FortisBC's standards, guidelines, and practices relevant to this role.
- Gain field experience with PMO and Operations to understand our business operations.
- Learn to effectively use PLSCADD software.
- Understand the Issue for Construction (IFC) process from estimation through design completion, construction, and As-builting.
In Year 2, You Will:
- Independently manage all key responsibilities with minimal support from senior engineers.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in civil or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Proven ability to drive results through effective planning, alignment, execution, and customer responsiveness.
- Strong decision-making skills with a focus on accountability, judgment, problem-solving, and maintaining customer focus.
- Capability to implement prudent changes through continuous improvement and innovative customer solutions.
