Your role involves animating various characters and objects, where you will focus on the intention behind movements and the behavior of subjects, ensuring that each animation contributes to the overall narrative of the game. The culmination of your efforts will be evident when you step back to appreciate the final product, witnessing how your months of meticulous work transform into a captivating piece of art that brings immersive worlds to life.
Collaboration is key in this role. You possess the ability to discern the subtle stories conveyed through movement, breaking down complex actions into manageable components that you can then reconstruct. As a team player, you take pride in your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication, adapting seamlessly to evolving project needs. You will work alongside artists, designers, programmers, and fellow animators, all of whom contribute diverse perspectives and ideas, united by the common goal of authentically representing the game universe.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize animation principles to produce high-quality animations while optimizing them to align with technical specifications and artistic direction;
- Conceptualize animation systems that fulfill game requirements in collaboration with cross-disciplinary team members, and effectively document and communicate these systems to newer or less experienced colleagues;
- Engage closely with the art director, game designers, and programmers to grasp quality benchmarks, gameplay objectives, and engine capabilities, allowing you to foresee the in-game appearance of animations;
- Assist your supervisor in estimating task durations and manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines;
- Identify and report any animation-related challenges to your supervisor;
- Rapidly prototype animation systems that will serve as foundational elements for animation and gameplay discussions;
- Perform additional related tasks as required.
What You Bring
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in video game animation or a related field;
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with various disciplines and enhance team visuals;
- Proficiency in animation software such as Motion Builder, 3ds Max, or Maya;
- An artistic sensibility and a keen eye for composition;
- A passion for innovation balanced with a commitment to cohesive teamwork.
