The Assistant Culinary Manager plays a vital role in our community, significantly influencing the lives of our residents and nurturing the essence of human connection.
As an Assistant Culinary Manager, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Enhancing Hospitality Style Dining Service through exceptional food production techniques, meticulous plate presentation, and garnishing by adhering to menus and dietary requirements of residents, preparing equipment and supplies for meal preparation, and following standardized recipes at the correct temperatures and portion sizes.
- Guiding food and beverage team members in fundamental food preparation methods, assisting with prep work, food plating, and orienting new team members in the food and beverage department.
- Notifying the Food & Beverage Manager of any issues affecting food quality and service, while providing suggestions for corrective measures.
- In the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager, overseeing departmental operations, including team member scheduling, making necessary menu adjustments, ordering and purchasing food and supplies from approved vendors, and maintaining records as instructed.
- Assisting with the monthly inventory of food supplies.
- Performing additional tasks as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
- Minimum education requirement of Grade 12.
- Red Seal certification or graduation from a recognized culinary program with a willingness to obtain Red Seal certification.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in large-scale food preparation, catering, and event planning within the Hospitality or Retirement Residence sector.
- A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate and Smart Serve certification.
- Ability to meet deadlines and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and evenings.
- All candidates must successfully complete the required Vulnerable Sector Check.
- All candidates must successfully complete the required Criminal Records Check.
