Role Summary
The On-Site Administrator plays a crucial role within the hospital's administrative framework, providing essential support to clinical staff during non-standard operational hours. This position is ideal for individuals eager to embrace leadership opportunities and gain comprehensive insights into hospital operations and clinical programs. The On-Site Administrator is entrusted with significant authority and autonomy, expected to exercise sound judgment in decision-making to align with the hospital's objectives while fostering an environment that embodies the institution's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Core duties include:
- Overseeing patient flow and managing hospital capacity effectively.
- Collaborating with various departments to enhance operational efficiency and directing both clinical and non-clinical personnel as needed.
- Ensuring high-quality care delivery based on established theories and evidence-based practices.
- Facilitating communication and serving as a consultant to healthcare professionals and community members.
- Promoting professional development for oneself and supporting the growth of team members.
- Ensuring compliance with quality improvement initiatives and standards.
- Responding to emergencies and acting as the site commander during critical situations.
- Performing additional responsibilities as required within the scope of the role.
- Ability to make informed operational decisions while considering existing protocols.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and fostering positive change.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.), Level II.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Up to five years of relevant experience, including three years in an acute care environment.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Progressive administrative experience in a nursing context is preferred.
- Critical care experience is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Proficient problem-solving and analytical skills with a comprehensive understanding of hospital operations.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to a dynamic work environment.
- Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization is advantageous.
