Mid-Level Mine Closure Engineer

Location: Remote - Full-Time Permanent

Position Overview

Reporting to the Mine Reclamation and Sustainability lead, this position is responsible for providing engineering and environmental expertise in support of mine closure, permitting, assessment, remediation, and reclamation initiatives. The role may also involve field program support as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering insights and support for mine closure, permitting, assessment, remediation, and reclamation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Ensero Engineering Team on various engineering projects.
  • Engage in workshops and discussions focused on closure objectives, land use planning, and remediation strategies.
  • Assist in developing reclamation and closure plans for assessment and permitting processes.
  • Provide support in closure and reclamation planning throughout all phases of the mine lifecycle.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information and participate in site investigations, drilling programs, core logging, laboratory testing, and monitoring.
  • Work in collaboration with a team of scientists and technologists to fulfill general environmental and geological responsibilities.
  • Perform geological, environmental, and geotechnical inspections and assist with field investigations.
  • Design environmental and geological monitoring programs for remediation efforts.
  • Ensure technical compliance for field operations.
  • Assist in managing field programs, including logistics, setup, and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate records of field data collection.
  • Analyze and interpret geological, geotechnical, and environmental data.
  • Support the preparation and formatting of reports.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings related to technical programs.
  • Travel to various worksites to collaborate with on-site personnel, vendors, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Promote environmental health and worker safety compliance.
  • Exercise proper safety measures, anticipate potential hazards, and take action to prevent accidents.
  • Provide technical contributions to projects within areas of expertise.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in geological/environmental engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mining, remediation, reclamation, or mine closure/permitting, preferably in remote or Northern environments.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in a Canadian province or territory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong organizational abilities, problem-solving skills, and experience handling confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
