Position Overview

Reporting to the Mine Reclamation and Sustainability lead, this position is designed to deliver engineering and environmental expertise for mine closure, permitting, assessment, remediation, and reclamation initiatives. The role also involves supporting field operations as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering support for mine closure, permitting, assessment, remediation, and reclamation initiatives.
  • Collaborate on various engineering projects within the Ensero Engineering Team.
  • Engage in workshops and discussions focused on closure objectives, land use planning, and remediation strategies.
  • Contribute to the formulation of reclamation and closure plans for assessment and permitting processes.
  • Assist in closure and reclamation planning throughout all phases of the mining lifecycle.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information and participate in site investigations, drilling programs, core logging, laboratory testing, instrumentation installation, and monitoring, as well as data analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of scientists and technologists on general environmental and geological tasks.
  • Perform geological, environmental, and geotechnical inspections and assist with field investigations.
  • Develop environmental and geological monitoring programs for remediation efforts.
  • Ensure technical compliance for field operations.
  • Support field program management, including logistics, setup, and scheduling.
  • Maintain accurate records of field data collection.
  • Analyze and interpret geological, geotechnical, and environmental data.
  • Assist in the preparation and formatting of reports.
  • Participate in workshops and meetings related to technical programs.
  • Travel to various worksites to collaborate with on-site personnel, vendors, clients, and regulatory authorities.
  • Promote and monitor environmental health and safety compliance.
  • Exercise safety precautions, anticipate potential hazards, and take action to prevent accidents.
  • Provide technical insights on projects within areas of expertise.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in geological/environmental engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in mining, remediation, reclamation, or mine closure, preferably in remote or Northern environments.
  • Currently registered or eligible for registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in a Canadian province or territory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and experience handling confidential documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
