Role Overview:
Are you passionate about supporting community members in their aquatic skills? Do you enjoy mentoring youth in a safe swimming environment? If so, this position is designed for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to all lifeguarding protocols to maintain a safe environment.
- Assume a leadership role in the absence of the Aquatic Program Supervisor, ensuring compliance with policies and emergency procedures.
- Oversee swimming lessons, ensuring quality instruction and consistency among instructors.
- Continuously review lesson plans and instructor evaluations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all participants.
- Manage registrations and maintain waitlists using the YMCA Member Information System.
- Keep daily pool logs and monitor pool chemistry.
- Foster lasting relationships and create memorable experiences in the aquatic setting.
Qualifications:
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment.
- Passion for working with youth and responding sensitively to diverse needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with staff and community members.
- 1-2 years of lifeguarding experience.
- Current certifications in National Lifeguard, Standard First Aid with CPR-C and AED, and Swim Instruction. Additional aquatic fitness or advanced instructor certifications are advantageous.
- A clear Police Check for Vulnerable Sector is required. Candidates must be at least 16 years old.

Additional Information:
Regular travel across the region is required, and candidates should have reliable transportation. A valid G driver's license and access to a vehicle are strongly recommended.
