DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Medical Imaging Specialist is accountable for generating radiographic, computed tomography, and mammography images, ensuring proper storage and documentation of images as mandated for examinations requested by healthcare professionals, adhering to established protocols in relevant manuals. This role involves assisting Radiologists during procedures while prioritizing patient comfort and safety. The Specialist is expected to maintain technical proficiency in line with the guidelines set forth by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) and the standards of the C.A.M.R.T. and/or O.A.M.R.S. Additionally, the Specialist may rotate through various radiographic modalities and undertake other related responsibilities as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Radiation Sciences program;
- Possession of a valid CMRITO license;
- Comprehensive understanding of all radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations, computed tomography techniques, and record-keeping practices essential for operation within the Diagnostic Imaging Department;
- Proven capability to utilize diverse X-Ray, CT, Fluoroscopy, and ancillary equipment to deliver high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologists;
- Current CBI breast certification or in progress;
- Recent continuing education in Mammography and experience in compliance with CAR Mammography Accreditation Program standards;
In-depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment, and specialized techniques related to Mammography, Interventional Mammography, Stereotactic biopsy, Breast biopsy, and Breast needle localization is essential.
- Demonstrated effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
- Proven ability to evaluate requests and prioritize tasks to ensure excellent and timely patient care;
- Capability to adapt standard procedures to emergency situations;
- Willingness to work all shifts on short notice, be available for stand-by call, and arrive on-site within 30 minutes;
- CAMRT membership is preferred;
- Must have a satisfactory performance record;

- Understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff, patient, and environmental safety, with participation in regular in-services in this area;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment terms and conditions are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.
Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
