Position Overview
BMO Financial Group seeks a highly motivated and experienced Portfolio Risk Strategist to play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of our Canadian Personal & Business Banking (P&BB) and Wealth Management Consumer lending portfolios. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring credit risk strategies across various product lines within these business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure portfolio performance consistently aligns with established risk appetite guidelines.
- Design and implement comprehensive credit strategies tailored to diverse lending products offered by P&BB and Wealth Management.
- Continuously monitor and refine existing credit strategies based on market trends, regulatory changes, and internal performance data.
- Lead the development and execution of risk-based collections strategies to minimize potential losses and maximize recovery rates.
- Collaborate effectively with business line stakeholders to ensure alignment between risk management objectives and overall business goals.
- Drive a balance between risk-adjusted return and portfolio growth, contributing to the profitability and sustainability of BMO's lending operations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Economics or Finance.
- Minimum 10 years of proven experience in risk management, with a strong focus on Consumer Credit Risk within the financial services industry.
- In-depth understanding of consumer lending practices, credit scoring models, and regulatory frameworks governing lending activities.
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders across all levels.
