We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Terminal Operator to join our team at Parkland Corporation. As a Terminal Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of products at our terminal facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abide by all safety procedures and practices applicable to the location and position, participate in appropriate safety training, and demonstrate commitment to and support of SH&E principles and values.
  • Open and close valves by hand or by use of computer for valves with remote operation.
  • Ensure correct tank lineup for various receipt and delivery operations, perform tank gauging and temperature verification, and complete associated paperwork.
  • Review operation orders for errors, verify proper backup, tank selection, and suitability of equipment or material.
  • Load and unload railroad tank cars, trucks, and ships and barges as assigned.
  • Loosen or tighten bolts manually using large wrenches, walk on docks, hook up and release hoses, position mechanical load arm or connect product hoses, review and complete documentation, monitor gauges, adjust flow rates, and follow written or oral instructions.
  • Ascend and descend ladders and stairs to manually gauge tanks.
  • Review operations procedures for new and existing systems, participate in start-ups, and make recommendations for the system that enhance performance and safety.
  • Trouble-shoot pumps, meters, heating systems, and nitrogen operations.
  • Ensure optimal equipment performance, report deficiencies to supervisor, and respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies following safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Clean truck stations by scraping and sweeping, clean and realign pipe lines, and perform miscellaneous cleaning activities as assigned.
  • Participate in and complete all assigned training programs, understand and ensure all work performed meets provincial and local requirements as well as Company safety, health, and environmental standards, and train regularly on provincial and local environmental regulations, requirements, and guidelines related to the function.
  • Assume delegated responsibilities of the supervisor in their absence with the authorization of the Operations Head, conduct hands-on training for operators as assigned, advise supervisor of trainee progress, and complete training documentation.
Requirements
  • High school diploma in an appropriate field.
  • College courses in a program related to our industry, such as mechanics, industrial, or chemicals.
  • Experience in terminal operations preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and job guidelines.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including database systems and other programs and applications used at the location.
  • Ability to multi-task and follow up on assignments.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts when required.
