POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Internal Audit Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the execution of the annual audit strategy, which may encompass consulting, compliance, or operational assessments. This role serves as a key liaison in the management and fulfillment of internal audit projects, ensuring exceptional service and fostering strong relationships between business units and the Internal Audit department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Develop, assess, and implement processes, policies, and procedures that align with the organization's strategic objectives.

• Serve as a subject matter expert in a specialized area, guiding and assisting management in the application and interpretation of corporate policies while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and industry standards.

• Identify innovative business solutions and operational improvements, providing recommendations that significantly influence SaskPower's operational strategies.

• Lead or engage in cross-departmental initiatives, offering functional expertise for corporate and departmental strategic planning efforts.

• Represent the audit department by preparing and delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders as necessary.

• Stay informed on industry trends and best practices relevant to the area of expertise, adapting them to enhance SaskPower's operational framework.

• Provide guidance and leadership to project teams and/or assigned personnel as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• A degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field AND/OR;

• Relevant professional certifications and/or designations AND/OR;

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing.

• Ability to collaborate effectively and cultivate strategic relationships both within and outside of SaskPower.

• Results-driven mindset with the capability to manage and advise on complex and sensitive issues with professionalism.

• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to adapt and thrive in a dynamic work environment.

• Proficient in facilitation, project management, and decision-making.

• Commitment to fostering a culture centered on safety, innovation, and teamwork.

• Proven track record of professional development in relevant competencies.

A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Candidates may be required to undergo an assessment process that could include interviews, skills testing, case studies, and/or presentations.
