We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Toronto District School Board.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will provide support to teachers and students with deaf or hard of hearing needs in a variety of educational settings. This includes assisting with academic instruction, personal care, and health needs, as well as promoting independence and self-advocacy skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualized education plans for students with deaf or hard of hearing needs;
- Provide support with academic instruction, including alternative curriculum and instructional strategies;
- Assist with personal care and health needs, including toileting, lifting, and transferring;
- Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and promoting independence;
- Assist with integration of students with deaf or hard of hearing needs into regular classroom programs;
- Provide support to teachers and students in a variety of educational settings, including regular and special education classrooms.
- Two-year Community College Diploma in a related field (e.g., ECE, DSW);
- Three months of related experience working with students with language delays or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Fluency in sign language;
- Knowledge of Deaf Culture.
