Key Responsibilities

As a driver for Arrow specializing in wood fibre transportation, you will primarily operate within local areas, moving wood fibre using super B train trailers. The materials transported include wood chips, sawdust, and hogfuel. Your routes will encompass various highways in the Interior of British Columbia.

  • Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, perform equipment inspections, follow safety protocols, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure safety and compliance
  • Adhere to regulations regarding safe operations, load securing, driver's hours, occupational health and safety, hazardous materials transportation, and weight limits
  • Maintain and review essential documentation, such as bills of lading, to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Utilize equipment like truck cab computers, two-way radios, and phones for effective communication with bases, supervisors, and fellow drivers
  • Keep electronic logs of working hours, vehicle maintenance, and repair statuses
  • Engage professionally and respectfully with customers, colleagues, and the public

Qualifications

  • Positive attitude
  • Valid Class 1 truck driver's license
  • Clean driving record with no suspensions
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Minimum of two professional references
  • Experience with B train configurations is preferred
  • Previous experience driving in mountainous terrain is advantageous
