School Bus Driver Instructor

Purpose
The School Bus Driver Instructor position is dedicated to providing comprehensive training for both aspiring and current bus drivers. This includes classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and ongoing education on school bus regulations and safety procedures. The role ensures compliance with state certification requirements, as well as district, state, and federal mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Driver Performance Evaluation: Conduct thorough assessments of bus driver performance, encompassing vehicle equipment usage, on-road handling, student interactions, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Professional Development: Actively participate in meetings, training sessions, and workshops to maintain current knowledge and meet the evolving demands of the role.
- Safety Program Implementation: Develop and deliver engaging safety programs, workshops, and information systems that promote a culture of safety within the transportation department.
- Training Coordination: Plan and execute comprehensive bus driver training programs, ensuring alignment with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of driver training, performance evaluations, and other relevant documentation to ensure compliance with auditing standards.
- Emergency Preparedness: Conduct regular emergency evacuation drills to familiarize drivers with procedures and enhance their preparedness in critical situations.
- Information Dissemination: Stay abreast of current state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to school buses and drivers, effectively communicating updates to the transportation team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Defensive Driving Certification
- 3rd Party Tester Certification
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Bus, S & P, and Air Brake Endorsements
