The role of a Cash Handling Specialist involves managing transactions and providing exceptional service in a retail environment.
Qualifications- Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is considered an asset.
- Efficiently operate the cash register and process various forms of payment including cash, cheques, and credit/debit cards.
- Accurately scan items and ensure the correct pricing is applied.
- Receive payments for goods and services while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Calculate and reconcile daily payments received with total sales.
- Engage in suggestive selling to enhance customer experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and stock shelves as needed.
- Monitor entrances and exits, ensuring proof of payment is requested when necessary.
- Verify customer age for the sale of restricted items such as lottery tickets, alcohol, or tobacco products.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail is crucial for accurate transactions.
- Demonstrates accuracy and reliability in handling cash.
- Possesses excellent oral communication skills.
- Exhibits flexibility and a collaborative spirit as a team player.
