Physician - Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program

Job Summary
The Vancouver Coastal Health organization is seeking General Internal Medicine physicians to work in the Leukemia/BMT Program at Vancouver General Hospital. This part-time service contract is for 9 full weeks per year, and the position is with the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA).
Program Overview
The Leukemia/Bone Marrow Transplant Program provides specialized care to patients with aggressive hematologic malignancies and those undergoing stem cell transplant. The program is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and advancing medical knowledge in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the program by being part of the team providing care to patients admitted/presenting to VGH ER under the program.
- Collaborate in the care of these patients with the leukemia/bone marrow transplant attending physicians, fellows-in-training, and clinical associates working with the program.
- Participate in the call and weekend schedule.
Requirements
- Be a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada.
- Hold a BC Medical License and current certificate with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC.
- Meet credentialing requirements at BC Cancer and VGH.
- Have a commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada, as per the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Have knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC).
Qualifications
- Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) License – Full.
- Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory.
- Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) – Mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Mandatory.
