Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Classroom Support Specialist to join our team at the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board. The successful candidate will provide critical support to students with diverse needs, including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with complex needs, including physical care and assistance with daily living tasks.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Use behavior modification strategies and augmentative communication techniques to support students with challenging behaviors.
  • Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance the learning environment and support remote learning.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Two-year post-secondary diploma in a relevant field, such as Developmental Service Worker, Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or Practical Nursing.
  • Experience working with students with multiple needs, including physical needs, Autism, developmental delays, behavior, and anger management needs.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with children with behavior exceptionalities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.
  • Working knowledge and experience of behavior modification strategies and augmentative communication techniques.
  • Experience using technology and digital tools to support the learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training.
  • French language skills.
  • First Aid training.
