About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for the initiation and management of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, as well as acting as an expert in advanced airway management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and manage the administration of oxygen and other compressed gases, aerosolized medications, and high humidity therapies.
  • Perform and interpret related pulmonary diagnostic testing.
  • Act as part of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to help achieve physician goals for patients' cardiorespiratory status.
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care and airway management for patients.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A graduate degree from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists.
  • Certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective planning, organizing, and supervising abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility.
  • Travel to other sites may be required.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent part-time position with 70% of 52.5 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $40.66. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
