We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Michael Page International Canada Limited. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in preparing preliminary budget pricing, developing spreadsheets, and preparing contract pricing for our residential construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare preliminary budget pricing by obtaining design drawings, Schedule "A", and specifications from sub-contractors.
  • Develop spreadsheets to list model types, elevations, and plans, as well as totals for all model costs and contingency totals.
  • Prepare Budget Pricing (hard and soft) for determining sale prices of models.
  • Assist in providing take-offs for project cost estimates.
  • Prepare Contract Pricing with approved working drawings, brochures, and Schedule "A".
  • Prepare scope of work for each trade, outlining responsibilities and standard construction procedures.
  • Prepare a Quotation Analysis spreadsheet and attach a cover letter for tendering packages.
  • Complete tendering packages, including cover letters, scope of work, quotation analysis spreadsheets, and working drawings.
  • Prepare sub-contractor bidder lists and assign numbers to each bidder.
  • Monitor budgets and inform accounting and department heads when costs are good until and adjust costs to complete sites within budget.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a construction-related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an Estimator in low-rise residential construction.
  • Working knowledge of Newstar.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, written and verbal.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of building contracts and tender packages.
  • Good knowledge of construction techniques and methodology.
  • Ability to work in a highly competitive market with challenging targets and timelines.
  • Good knowledge base of industry-standard CCDC contract types and building codes.
  • Strong understanding of standard industry terminology, specifications, and general practices.
  • Proficiency in drawings review and general interpretation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, including Macros and Formulas.
