The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at the Gahcho Kue Diamond Mine. This is a full-time position on a 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off rotation, with the possibility of night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the kitchen staff in meal preparations, ensuring high-quality dishes are delivered to our clients.
  • Clean and sanitize service utensils, flatware, and china to maintain a clean and safe food service environment.
  • Ensure the general maintenance and cleanliness of the food service areas, including the kitchen, dining room, and service islands.
  • Adhere to Territorial and Federal sanitation practices to maintain the highest standards of food safety.
  • Practice sanitation and safety daily and throughout the shift, prioritizing the well-being of our clients and staff.
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions and safety meetings to stay up-to-date on industry best practices.

Requirements

  • Current WHMIS and Level 1 Food Safe certificates.
  • Knowledge of the safe and efficient operation of equipment within the food service area of operations.
  • Understanding of the proper use of cleaning chemicals in the food service areas and safety precautions necessary while using these products.
  • Familiarity with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work effectively with the public.
  • Proven ability to work as a team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven punctuality and ability to work 12-hour shifts.
