About the Role:

We are in search of a proficient Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting to join our esteemed client in the mining sector. In this pivotal position, you will be part of a collaborative, results-oriented, and highly motivated environment. Reporting directly to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Head of Financial Reporting & Accounting will be tasked with the development and maintenance of consolidated financial statements, as well as the preparation of Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This position will involve providing monthly, quarterly, and annual analyses, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to report on cost discrepancies. You will oversee general accounting practices, manage general ledger accounts, and supervise daily operations. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing audits and ensuring that controls and compliance align with IFRS and industry benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and consolidation of financial statements
  • Delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analyses
  • Investigation of accounting issues to ensure compliance with IFRS
  • Analysis and reporting of cost variances
  • Ensuring adherence to professional accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Oversight of general accounting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, including tax compliance schedules
  • Management of daily accounting operations and team workflows, including accounts receivable and payable
  • Assistance in budget development and evaluation, along with budget reporting
  • Support in the formulation and implementation of internal control systems
  • Assistance to the accounting department in all aspects of the general ledger
  • Utilization of various software programs for account management
  • Preparation and facilitation of internal and external audits
  • Monitoring regulatory changes and compiling compliance reports regarding standards and accounting practices

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience
  • Preferred experience in the mining industry
  • Strong expertise in financial reporting and knowledge of IFRS
  • Experience leading the reporting process for publicly traded companies
  • Ability to automate processes and optimize for cost efficiency
  • Experience overseeing the external audit process
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
