Production Operations Manager

As a key member of the Operations division, the Production Operations Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. This role is pivotal in managing plant activities through the supervision of Production Supervisors. All operations must be conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to Johnson Electric's Health & Safety protocols, procedures, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance worker safety by minimizing repetitive tasks, identifying and mitigating hazards, and promoting 5S methodologies within the facility.
- Boost production efficiency through ongoing process improvements, including minimizing downtime, reducing defects, and streamlining workflows.
- Lower inventory levels by decreasing setup times and enhancing operational reliability.
- Reduce operational costs through diligent labor management and efficiency enhancements.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures while managing employee performance through annual evaluations and a progressive discipline framework.
- Oversee labor and vacation scheduling to guarantee adequate staffing for operations.
- Minimize tooling expenses by ensuring comprehensive employee training and adherence to setup protocols, including effective error-proofing and sensor utilization.
- Diagnose process issues and implement corrective measures to enhance quality and productivity.
- Coordinate daily activities of Production Supervisors and hourly staff.
- Schedule engineering and maintenance requirements for machinery.
- Adjust production timelines to maintain workflow, considering equipment availability, workforce, and packaging needs.
- Address workforce concerns, inspire employees, and foster positive relations between staff and management.
- Set production targets for each work cell.
- Participate in Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement meetings as necessary.
- Comply with Johnson Electric's policies and procedures.
- Support and uphold Johnson Electric's Safety and Environmental policies and practices.
- Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A degree and/or diploma with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience with Quality Systems in a TS 16949 certified organization.
- Proficient in computer applications and Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal, across all organizational levels.
- High integrity and reliability, with a strong sense of urgency and results-driven mindset.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based, with some time spent in manufacturing settings.
- Day shift operations.
